The project
Room to swim. A place to pause.
This custom swimming pool in Davidsonville, Maryland, brings a long rectangular pool and a generous tanning ledge into one backyard design. The 16 × 40 ft pool provides the main swimming space, while the 8 × 12 ft ledge creates a separate place to spend time at the shallow end.
Oasis paired the pool with a surrounding paver patio and a raised bond beam. The finished photographs show how the pool, ledge and terrace work together: open water for swimming, a distinct shallow lounging area, and space alongside the pool for gathering.
What makes it work
The details shape the space.
A pool that anchors the backyard
The 16 × 40 ft rectangular pool gives the outdoor space a clear organizing line. The surrounding terrace follows that geometry, connecting the water with places to sit beside it.
A ledge with its own role
The 8 × 12 ft tanning ledge adds another way to enjoy the pool. Its footprint is a meaningful part of the layout, so it belongs in the early design conversation alongside the main swimming area.
Finishes considered together
Light paving, blue-toned waterline tile and the darker raised wall create the palette visible in the completed photos. The result is a coordinated pool setting with the water as its focal point.
