The project
A clear design for everyday time outside.
This new pool in Annapolis, Maryland, pairs a 14 × 26 ft swimming area with a brushed-concrete surround. A raised stone wall gives the pool a defined backdrop and adds a change in texture beside the water.
The project is a useful example for homeowners comparing a more compact pool layout with a larger backyard design. Its straightforward geometry keeps the swimming area easy to read, while the surround and raised wall give the finished space its character.
What makes it work
The details shape the space.
A defined swimming footprint
At 14 × 26 ft, this pool offers a distinct example of scale within the Oasis portfolio. The rectangular layout makes the relationship between the water and surrounding space clear in the finished photographs.
A restrained pool surround
Brushed concrete creates a consistent surface around the pool. Its quiet appearance allows the blue water and texture of the raised stone wall to stand out.
Texture at the water’s edge
The raised stone wall provides a visual anchor along one side of the pool. It brings another material into the composition without overwhelming the simple pool shape.
